A rare treat to host my friend Matthew in our home this past month. Matthew is the General Secretary of SLEFES (Sierra Leone Fellowship of Evangelical Students, a member movement of IFES). Matthew and I co-lead a Canadian and Sierra Leonean mission partnership in 2012 (which continued in 2013). While new cases of ebola in West Africa has significantly reduced in December and January, this is the second week of an increase in new cases -- 144. (76 in Sierra Leone, and 65 in Guinea, only 3 in Liberia). The situation in West Africa has improved, but is far from over. We can not afford to forget our brothers and sisters in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia. Please join me in prayer for West Africa that there would be 0 new cases of ebola, and good medical treatment and recovery for those afflicted by the virus. -- Steve Colby - - - - FYI: This Friday February 13th at City in Focus' breakfast at the Vancouver Club, Dr. Michael Rekart discusses his decision to leave his post at UBC medical school to work in Sierra Leone with Medicines Sans Frontiers. For more information about the ebola situation in West Africa, see this week's World Health update. Coming Next:

CategoriesMission Pilgrims is the call to live all life as a mission road following Jesus, growing as disciples as we go making disciples.
I host this blog but will involve many other contributors who are walking in Jesus mission with their lives, including: Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship staff and students, campers, alumni, teachers, engineers, doctors, business, social workers, bakers, and candlestick-makers. Jesus calls all in His life-long mission pilgrimage whether its across the street or across the world. For more extraordinary stories of our short-term missions, go to Extraordinary Stories |
